 The word Andhra is Sanskrit means South. The people living in this region were called ANDHRAS. The Sathavahanas in Ancient Indian Dynasty had kingdom in name of telangan and Andhra.Andhra came in existence in 1956, WITH Telugu as their official Language.

The word is derived from Sanskrit word ‘TRILINGA’, meaning the region with parts. After Asaf Jahis ceded Seemandhra region to the British, the rest of the Telugu region retained the name, Telingana. In post independence the region was named by Chandrashekar Rao, on 27th April, 2001, for a separate State.

The popularly accepted etymologies is the derivation from he word Karu and nadu, meaning ‘elevated land’.The region was renamed after 1956, in 1973 as Karnatka.

The word Kerala is first recorded in Indian History from rock inscription 274-237 BCE, during the reign of Mauryan Emperor, Asoka, the Great, referring Kerlaputra. The other is in Malyalam, the word, ‘Kera’, means the ‘trees of Coconut’ and ‘alam’ meaning ‘Land’ hence may be called as the Land of Coconut trees. Kerla was formed in November1, 1956.

Tamil Nadu

The word is originated from the Tamil Word Naidu, referring the King of the region. Here it may be said as the Place belonging to Tamilians. The State was renamed in 1969, after Post independence, in 1969 by CN.
