Languages of southern India seem to have a co-relation with the Dravidian Languages. Seemingly The Dravidians inhabited this region during Ancient Period of Indian history.
More importantly The Dravidian languages were referenced for the first time in the 2nd century BCE . In fact as Tamil-Brahmi script . This was emblazoned on the cave walls in Madurai and Tirunelveli districts of Tamil Nadu.
Convincingly many languages show peculiar resemblance to the Dravidian Era. They also seem to originate during the Contemporary Period.
Certainly the Dravidian Languages are the second largest form of Languages spoken In India. These are predominantly spoken in the Southern India. Similarly they are spoken in western and central part of the Indian sub-continent, also.
Prominently only two Dravidian languages are spoken exclusively outside Indian Sub-continent. These are Brahui in the Balochistan region of Pakistan and in Afghanistan . The other is Dhangar. It is a dialect of Kurukh, in parts of Nepal and Bhutan.

Undoubtedly various languages are spoken in this Part of the country. But it is to be noted that Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam are only recognized. These are recognized as the regional Languages of Southern India. Almost 20 % of the total Indian Population speaks these form of Dravidian Language.
However the Official languages of this Part of the Country are Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. Finally Bengali remains the 2nd most popular language of India, after Hindi.
